Family Safety Planning
Keeping Our Loved Ones Safe
Protect Your Family Members
In the event a spouse or parent is detained by ICE, family members left behind may find themselves without access to important legal documents and decisions.
Family Safety Plan Workshops assist families to gather and prepare their essential paperwork for the possibility that a family member could get caught up in an ICE enforcement, leaving loved ones without access to vital family information.
Community members listen to a presentation about the importance of Family Safety Planning, then meet with advocates who help them prepare a Power of Attorney and organize their paperwork.
When the documents are ready, each participant meets with a volunteer lawyer to review their situation and get the their Power of Attorney and other paperwork signed and notarized.

La Casa Hogar – 106 S. 6th Street, Yakima, WA 98901
La Casa Hogar supports immigrant families in our community. They know that planning for the unexpected can be overwhelming, especially for parents who worry about what would happen to their children if they were suddenly unable to care for them due to detention, deportation, or other emergencies.
To plan for these possible outcomes, La Casa Hogar offers Family Safety Plan resources to help families prepare and make informed decisions.
What does the Family Safety Plan include?
✅ A meeting with La Casa Hogar to go over key steps and important documents.
✅ Identifying and designating a trusted caregiver for children.
✅ Preparing legal documents to ensure the caregiver has the necessary authority.
✅ Organizing important information like emergency contacts and medical records.
La Casa Hogar collaborates with local family law attorneys to help families file court documents, if they need to legally designate a caregiver.
If you know families who could use this support, or if you have any questions, please contact La Casa Hogar.
